Introducing Sea The Weed

A chance for 20 organisations to build a deep, 10-year relationship with the Ocean by reforesting an underwater forest across 22 iconic beaches.

What will be the impact?

The reforestation of 22 beaches.

A case study for change for the world.

An example of a compostable garment (a seaweed hoodie).

A relational highway built between 20 organisations and the ocean.

What impact can you experience as an organisation?

We know that the time spent in genuine connection to nature - organisations having staff underwater with Operation Crayweed, doing the reforesting, feeling and being in relation to nature - can bring remarkable value to an org.

What else?

Well, we made one of the world's first seaweed hoodies, and each organisation gets 10 of these as part of the package.

Tell us a bit more about Operation Crayweed?

The actions of Operation Crayweed will result in the reforestation of 22 beaches, over 10 years. Some of the impact to date includes:

- 8,000 m2 of crayweed has been restored and is continuing to expand.

- A reversal of local extinction of crayweed in Sydney and re-establishment of crayweed forests in 7 reefs.

- This work has led to 15 scientific articles which have been cited over 400 times in other scientific publications.

- Operation Crayweed expect just one site to reach half a hectare in 5 to 10 years, which, alone, would sequester up to 200 kg of carbon.
